Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical phase involving physical and social growth. Imbalanced dietary patterns often lead to nutritional issues like undernutrition and obesity, common among Indonesian adolescents. Adequate nutrition is crucial to support growth and development during this period.

Objective: This study aims to describe the dietary patterns and nutritional status of adolescents at MTs Al-Irsyad, Pontianak Timur, Kota Pontianak.

Methods: This descriptive study used direct measurements of weight, height, and dietary patterns through a semi-quantitative FFQ (Food Frequency Questionnaire), analyzed using univariate analysis.

Results: The study at MTs Al-Irsyad Pontianak Timur found that no student met the "good" dietary pattern criteria. Most students (76.7%) met their energy and nutritional needs well, especially protein (97.7%). While 67.4% of students ate three meals a day, only 32.6% consistently consumed carbohydrates, and none consumed vegetables and fruits daily.

Conclusion: The study at MTs Al-Irsyad Pontianak Timur indicates that no student met the criteria for a "good" dietary pattern, meaning none had an optimal balance of food quantity, type, and frequency.
