Hubungan Perilaku Makan Dan Body Image Dengan Kejadian Overweight Pada Remaja Di Smkn 1 Kota Jambi

Abstract

The emergence of nutritional problems such as being overweight in adolescents is basically due to an imbalance between nutritional consumption and the recommended nutritional adequacy. This will cause problems and an influence on body image. This study aimed to determine the relationship between eating behavior and body image with the incidence of overweight in adolescents at SMKN 1 Jambi City. This type of research is quantitative research using a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted in March-May 2024 which was located at SMKN 1 Jambi City. The number of respondents was 80 adolescents. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, the data collection techniques by filling out questionnaires on eating behavior and body image. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis using the Pearson correlation test. The results of this study showed that 43.8% of adolescents had poor eating behavior, 48.8% of adolescents had a negative body image and 38.8% of adolescents were overweight. The correlation test results showed that there was a relationship between body image and the incidence of overweight (<0.05) while eating behavior and the incidence of overweight in adolescents showed no relationship between the two (>0.05). This study can conclude that there is a relationship between body image and the incidence of overweight and there is no relationship between eating behaviour and the incidence of overweight. Schools are advised to coordinate with the health center in the local area to conduct counseling on the eating behavior and nutritional status of adolescents.
